In his series Two stories of (hi)stories, six scenes are installed in illuminated diorama boxes. The artist Lebohang Kganye assembles historical photographs by Marie Pauline Thorbecke from the archives of the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum (Germany), with episodes from Cameroonian history.
Questioning the historical narrative of the German colonialist “masters”, she plays all the roles herself, relying on oral accounts of the history of the Bamum kingdom, and on literary works by Cameroonian authors.

Lebohang Kganye was born in 1990 in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she lives and works. In her pursuit of the materiality of photography, she uses sculpture, performance, theater and the moving image, exploring personal history and ancestry, resonating with the history of South Africa and of Apartheid. His critical narratives, linked to oral tradition, tell stories of home, refuge, family and identity

Open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on public holidays).
Exceptional openings Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, Saturday October 5, Saturday November 16 and Saturday December 14, 2024.
