CAPESTANG
Come and discover the former summer residence of the archbishops of Narbonne and its brand new scenography. In the late Middle Ages, it was a splendid residence that some would even describe as a palace.
The château has certainly suffered the ravages of time, but fortunately what was once the most prestigious part of the dwelling is still there to bear witness to its former splendor.
On the 1st floor of a vast rectangular tower, crowned on the south by machicolations on arches and buttresses, is a magnificent ceremonial room. On the ceilings, you can see a number of scenes from the period: animals, gallant and religious scenes. A touch-sensitive digital table, lighting and audio narration bring you closer to the history of this emblematic Capestang monument.
Guided tour from 5 p.m. to 5 p.m. offered by Dominique Saillard, tour guide.
