Born in Toulon, Éric Hübsch could have been content to draw small pictures in the margins of his notebooks.
Instead, he passed his Bac C with honors. This didn’t stop him from going on to study at the Beaux-Arts in Angoulême.
In 1992, he graduated in the Comics section.
Despite the Festival and the Musée de la BD, Éric left Angoulême for the Hérault. He designed logos and illustrated posters.
After a stint in the army, where, despite his hopes, he didn’t learn to shoot faster than his shadow like one of his heroes, in 1994 he created two painted walls for the town of Pézenas.
The following year, he began work on the album that saw the light of day in July 1998: Le Réveil de Merlin, the first volume in the Le chant d’Excalibur series, based on a script by Scotch Arleston.
Prior to this, the artist took part in various collective works (La Bête du Gévaudan et les Cahiers de l’Exotisme in 1991, Au fil du Nil in 1992 and les filles de Soleil in 1998).
At the request of the Grand Angle publishing house, Éric Hübsch has illustrated a collection of comics on the work of Marcel Pagnol, co-written by Serge Scotto and Éric Stoffel, with the titles Topaze (2016), Cigalon (2018) and La partie de boules (2019).
Come and enjoy the boards of these 3BD à la MAG, presented in parallel with the programming, as part of the Saison Culturelle, of another emblematic work by Pagnol, Marius.
