“Thaïs, Hérodiade…Les héroïnes d’Orient à l’Opéra” by soprano Charlotte BONNET, baritone Jean-Michel BALESTER and Valérie BLANVILLAIN on piano.
Charlotte BONNET made her stage debut at the age of 20 with the role of Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), then went on to perform Rosine in a French version of Rossini’s Barber of Seville.
She has also played leading roles in Viennese comic operas and operettas.
Today, she devotes more time to a more lyrical, even grand lyrical, repertoire.
Jean-Michel BALESTER began singing, drama and cello in his native Sète.
A great connoisseur and subtle interpreter of sacred music, he has been Maître de Chapelle at the churches of Sète since 2012.
For over fifteen years, he has passionately directed the two vocal ensembles Allegre’Thau and Montacanto.
Valérie BLANVILLAIN is Head Singer and Chorus Master at the Opéra et Orchestre National de Montpellier Occitanie.
She accompanies professional opera singers in their vocal preparations and recitals, as well as the Opéra Junior program.
Before devoting herself fully to the Opéra de Montpellier, she directed the Gard operetta season for several years, as well as the Choeur Éphémère, specializing in the operetta repertoire.
In this concert, she sets out to evoke the works that once nourished the musical ambience of this enchanting place; all the works chosen are based on scores from the monument’s archives.
First half: excerpts from Georges Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles and Jules Massenet’s Hérodiade.
Second half: excerpts from Thaïs by Jules Massenet.

The main entrance to the site will not be open.
Access to the monument will be via the secondary entrance (PMR access) via the Agde round lock bridge.
