It is now a deeply-rooted custom in Cap d’Agde that alternates moments of emotion, contemplation and celebration. The “Festival of the sea” is an ode to the Mediterranean, but above all it gives pride of place to sailors and seafarers, with, as the culmination, the open-air mass on Sunday.
It is followed by the ceremony for blessing boats and the sailing out to sea as a tribute to the disappeared sailors, this moment is also attended by many boaters and particularly the families of sailors. But the «Festival of the sea» is also an opportunity to discover and appreciate local traditions with an evening jousting tournament.
