CARCASSONNE
Brilliance is the key word and the guiding thread of this program.
Brilliance of the quality and youth of the performers, all members of the new generation of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse: Hugo Blacher, after a stint as principal trumpet with the Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine, holds the same position in Toulouse, his birthplace. Thomas Pesquet, principal cornet, comes from Lyon, where he notably developed the city’s “Brass Band”. Fabien Dornic, bass trombone, whom we have heard with the “Sacqueboutiers”, the Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy, and Louise Ognois, principal trombone, the latest recruit to the Toulouse formation after a stint in Parisian ensembles such as the Opéra de Paris and the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
Brilliance of the brass family instruments, whether piston or slide, they give power and brilliance to the orchestral sound.
Finally, a program that shines through time brings together works ranging from the Renaissance to a more contemporary era: from the “danceryes” of the Flemish Tylman Susato, composer and musician, but also one of the first music printers, to the musical tribute to the violinist Alfredo Gobbi by Astor Piazzolla, from the divertimento for three basset horns by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to the ballet “The Nutcracker” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: here’s what will allow the audience to… shine!
