The winegrowing history of this estate has been written since 2014, and the preceding chapters tell you about a virgin land which, in the last century, was only visited by shepherds grazing their flocks. To get there, the winding road seems to lose itself in the wildest landscape of the Pic-Saint-Loup, where plant and mineral merge. Visitors to this area are struck by the contrast between raw nature and domesticated vineyards. It feels like the end of the world. Some might say there’s something magnetic about the place.
On this site, known as “La Figarède”, the new estate had to find a new name, so Sylvie decided to organize a family brainstorming session to find the estate?s “signature”. Suggestions poured in, but in the end, Sylvie?s totem animal came out on top: discreet and mischievous, intuitive and clairvoyant, the beautiful bird, sometimes solitary, can see in the dark. It is even said to have magical powers? La Chouette du Chai was born.
