The Roc des Anges estate was created in 2001 by Stéphane and Marjorie Gallet. The couple have a passion for the land, he coming from Normandy, she from Côte-Rôtie. They decided to train as agricultural engineers before falling in love with this “wild and open” piece of land in Roussillon. They started with 10 hectares, made up of a few hundred-year-old vines acquired through cooperative cellars.
The Roc des Anges estate expanded rapidly through the successive purchase of plots, their choice justified by the low yields of their clay-free soil. Their first four cuvées, totalling 10,000 bottles, sell easily at wine trade shows. Stéphane Gallet worked at Mas Amiel for the first 8 years, before taking on the Roc des Anges domaine full-time in 2008. Time reveals and refines the personality of their terroirs, which total 40 hectares in 2016. The conversion to biodynamic viticulture at Domaine du Roc des Anges began with their first vintage and continues year after year, parcel by parcel.
