From Negra, located between Castelnaudary and Toulouse, the Canal du Midi allows you to go back more than three centuries. Sailing westward aboard your habitable boat, the green wave lined with plane trees, will take you to Toulouse. East of Negra, it is the cassoulet, foie gras and confit which will enter the legend of your stopovers, before approaching Carcassonne. Magnificently restored by Viollet le Duc in the 19th century, the city of Carcassonne is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From its 52 towers, the largest medieval fortress in Europe proudly dominates the lower town. From its double belt of ramparts, the view is breathtaking.
